Anthologies are really great. Most of you already know this, but for those that don’t let my lay it out for you. An entire book full of short stories; sometimes with a theme, sometimes without. The good part about this is that unlike novels, if the writing sucks you can skip ahead a few pages and start something by someone else. The downside of this is that most anthologies only have a few good stories a smattering of mediocre ones, and a lot of crap for filler. |

Great new post from Editor Matt Staggs Skullring.org on John Everson, an artist with few creative boundaries. He's a Bram Stoker Award-winning author, music critic, musician and photographer living in Illinois. His newest novel is "Sacrifice", available from Delirium Books.
John, would you mind introducing yourself to our readers?
Sure! I'm an obsessively creative, frustratingly procrastinative writer-editor-musician type, living near Chicago with my wife and son, and two birds (a cockatoo and cockatiel) who tend to sit on opposite ends of my computer monitor whenever I write. I've always been fascinated with creepy stories, goth art and music, etc. I never dress up, but my favorite holiday is Halloween. I started my adult life as a newspaper journalist, moved on to become a music magazine editor and these days I serve as a publications director for a medial association...all the while still writing the weekly pop music review column I started at the newspaper almost 19 years ago (check here for column archives). |

PS Publishing was in London last week at the British Fantasy Society‘s annual pre-Christmas drinks gig—we had a wonderful time, not least because Steve Jones presented us with an International Horror Guild Award, which Postscripts received for Best Periodical. Fantastic!
Now, on to business. Just in are: Ian MacLeod’s Past Magic, Chris Roberson’s The Voyage Of Night Shining White, Robert Reed’s Flavors Of My Genius and Robert Charles Wilson’s Julian. Expected today (Friday 15 December) is the paperback edition of Postscripts #9 and Steven Utley’s Where Or When, while, next Wednesday, the paperback edition of Liz Hand’s Illyria (this year’s Christmas special—free to all subscribers of Postscripts!) should be landing. Alas, because of postal delays with the signing sheets, the hardcovers of
Illyria
and Postscripts will not be available until the first week in January—sorry about any disappointment.
