Submitted by: dsendecki

ZYZZYVA (ISSN 8756-5633) is a triquarterly journal of West Coast writers and artists. Based in San Francisco, California, it has been publishing since 1985 and is edited by Howard Junker. ZYZZYVA's slogan is "The Last Word," referring to "zyzzyva," the last word in the American Heritage Dictionary. A zyzzyva is an American weevil. The accent is on the first syllable.

ZYZZYVA is described as: "a perfect example of an ambitious editorial posture and an innate sense of marketing".

johnhardyWell, I couldn't say it better myself, so I'm going to quote a Techorati WTF (where's the fire?): "Great writing should always be news. Even as the tyranny of the visual prevails almost every where in the world a few dedicated persons still strive to create art. Zyzzyva is distinguished for its longevoty--it's been around for nearly two decades and it truly delivers quality literary and artistic material to a selecnet grouyp of cognesceti. Recently they have joined the blogosphere(please kill me for using that word). However Howard Junker's, Zyzzyva's editor's wry, sometimes combative style makes for great dishy reading on the lit scene. The Zyzzyv blog is lots of fun."
