Great resource on typesetting

Small press journals these days are chock full of "cool" typographic design; in many cases the result of highly trained graphic artists, or maybe even amateurs with great instincts.
But designing with type is a highly challenging endeavor. Just because the bosses put a page designer in front of a Mac doesn't mean she will crank out type that works. I've reviewed too many weak journals that suggest art students are doing the tyographic design and not just layout.
"Designing With Type" is a great book for learning the basics...very straightforward text.
