Buenos dias from the heart of New York City!
I hope to discuss with you all that is related to the art of writing. (And _base_ball, if you're into the kind of thing.)
Thanks.

Mets, Yankees? 1 Year, 10 Months ago

Hey! Writing and _base_ball are two of my favourite things.
There'll be lots of time to discuss writing in the off-season. So let's get to the important questions: You're a new yorker, which begs the question—yankees or mets?
I'm a Yanks fan.
I was prepared to see the Yankees knocked out this year. No, really, I was. I knew what would come in the morning: tales of A-Rod on the first plane out of town. I still like him though, and would like to see him stay.
Anyway, welcome aboard—glad to see new faces here, especially those to whom I can chat about _base_ball!
Plus—I scoped out your book on lulu; glad to see you're a poet; we can always use more poets in the folds here!
Steven

As a native New Yorker who is fully aware of this city's rich cultural history--especially as it pertains to _base_ball--it must be known to all that I am a Yankee fan (since 1988)!
I hate to admit it, but I didn't think the Yankees would do very well against the Tigers. Having said that, I didn't think they'd be humiliated in such a disgraceful fashion, either.
There's always spring training, right?

Thanks for the kind words on the chapbook. It's only self-published; it came about when I was asked to read at the Earshot reading series in Brooklyn (http://www.earshotnyc.com).

What's your connection to this site, and to writing in general, Steven?

Connections! 1 Year, 9 Months ago

Well, my connection to writing is mostly academic. What I've written is not fit to publish, methinks. But I love the written word and enjoy teaching English literature and conversation in a suburb of Seoul, Korea.
As far as this site is concerned, I found my way here through poets.org early on (five or six months ago). The site is run by the fine folks at Ahadada Books and, because generally like what they are up to (lots of interesting writers) I enjoy helping out here, albeit in a limited capacity (by time that is).
For a guy who likes to read, being overseas is difficult, so I consume a lot of online writing—that's what made me initially discover Ahadada and other presses like Xpressed—they publish lots of stuff online that can be printed out. Makes for good reading in a country where Engish texts (especially poetry) are difficult to find.
