What's on your Ipod? 2 Years, 7 Months ago Karma: 3
I was probably one of the last people in the world to get a cell phone (and I live in Korea where cellphones have redefined hte redefined the term ubiquitous). And I know I was truly one of the last to get an iPod Mini.

A few weeks ago, my wife was shopping for one for me in Seoul and didn’t see any on the shelves. However, she saw just a few in a box behind the checkout counter and asked a salesperson. She was told they were just about to send them back to Apple, since the Korean p_layer_s sell much better.

How glorious to hear Schubert’s great cello quintet in my ears while walking through Itaweon!

Oh ya, so what's on your Ipod?

Here're the first few songs chosen at random from my computer. I don't have an Ipod though.

    They Dance Alone - Sting
Floor (Jars of Clay Cover) - UIUC Xtension Chords
    High Hopes - Pink Floyd
    Intro - Guru
    Breathe Again - Toni Braxton
    Have you ever - Offspring
After The Rain - The Samples
    Nation States - Propaghandi
    Tiger Army - Nocturnal
    Territorial Pissings - Nirvana
Thank You (Live - Acoustic) - Dido

Considering that something like 3200 of the songs on my iPod are collected from others, and, ergh, haven't even been played yet, this seems like a semi-reasonable cross-section of what's there. The vast vast collection of Punk which I came into possession of through a past collection-munging is slowly getting removed. Well, the stuff that sucks is, anyway. Not that I don't like Punk.

Oh ya! Here's mine:

Release yourself — Graham Central Station
Suikinkutsu Water Chime — nature recording by David Toop
Free Culture, Chapter 11: Chimera — Lawrence Lessig, read by Dave Winer
Can't seem to make you mine — The Seeds
    Pursuance — John Coltrane
Little Moses — The Carter Family
It makes a fellow proud to be a soldier — Tom Lehrer
Get ready for love — Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds
Heart of Gold — Neil Young
    Priznak Aluminium — Violet

You've got quite an eclectic mix there, rhughes.

John Coltrane 2 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 1
John Coltrane is one of my favourite 'voices'.

Have you seen "The World According to John Coltrane? I've watched a couple of documentaries about him lately and this is one of very best. There is a lot of excellent footage of him and other musicians playing--a real treat for those who like jazz from his era, as I do. There are short clips of Charlie Parker, Monk, and Ravi Shankar.

Early on, there is a clip of Coltrane when he was in the Miles Davis band. Miles plays a bit, then Coltrane steps into a solo and the viewer can immediately see what a powerful force he was.
