I inherited a project from someone else and need to match the existing font. Now I'm trying to figure out what a particular font is. I need to conform to a "look" that the original designer used consistently thoughtout this book, but no one nivolved in the project knows exactly what was used. If I post it up here—could you help me out?

Totally not an easy task. You could eyeball it. But it takes a long time to manually compare your desired font to those you think it might be. The easy way out -- the method I suggest -- is a font recognition service like WhatTheFont. It's is an online application that recognizes and tries to match an existing font.

All you need to do is upload a scanned image of your font and the app compares it against images in its data_base_ in search of a match. Also a pretty good forum, tips, etc.

Well, I checked your font out against their data_base_, and there are no exact matches, to my eye.

"Edwardian _script_ EF Regular" comes close. I think this is some type of Edwardian font. Anyway these provide a reasonable facsimile. Can you replace what you have with something like these?

I went with anthrasula's suggestion and swapped out the old font for something just as Edwardian-looking.
