Well, I loved the the 300—beautiful film. Of course, a movie that uses and abuses history... But at least it looked beautiful. The guy who played Leonidas is fantastic, and endowed him with a real sense of nobility.
The beautiful imagery throughout and the epic quality of the violence was superb, just a spectacle. Ironic that a king of an autocratic, conservative state that was maintained by a large number of slaves discuss freedom — not too different than what's happening in the US, I suppose.
I'm glad they stuc so closely to Frank Miller's graphic novel, but if there is one complaint I had, it was that the novel was short. And, because this is an adaptiation, by extension the movie is also short. This is really too bad because there are a number of things that the filmmakers might have expanded upon.
