I am, for the time being living in Korea. I'm a sometimes poet, writer, editor and promoter of arts. I currently work as an assistant director at a language school in South Korea, but am originally from the US. I don't know what I may be able to contribute to this forum, but hope that some good may come of it.

What university are you at in Korea? I worked for a few years at Chonnam National University in Gwangju. It was a great time -- I really enjoyed my time there, especially being so close to some really cool destinations, i.e. Vietnam, Malaysia, et al.

Anyway -- just wanted to say hi!

It's a private christian school outside of Seoul -- I'll PM you the name, in case I want to complain openly and loudly about the administration -- I better do it anonymously! Me teaching at a christian school is a bit of a farce and the ideology on campus runs decidedly far right. But its a paycheck!

How's your korean? I can hold my own. I recently married and am expecting a new arrival this summer. It's been quite an adventure.

I know all to well about complaining loudly to Korean university administration -- the manner by which we approach education is incredibly divergent.

My korean's not so good -- I'm great at small talk. Too good, in fact, as speakers in Korean tend to think that I can hold my own on more complex topics. Gets me into trouble. :?
