Hi Stephanie and welcome to the Small Press Exchange. I hope that you enjoy your time here with us, and that we can help you out! Take a look around and see what you think, and if you need a hand with anything, please don't hesitate to ask.
If you are interested in doing reviews, I've got a pile of books that are begging for exposure! 8) Sudbury — what's the 'small press' and zine scene like? I haven't been but would love to go — this summer perhaps!

Regarding your question...
Mike O'Conner (of Insomniac Press I think) had a great take on this that I agree with:
"In the golden era of small press publishing, the mid seventies, the small press scene was really happening," he says. "There was a lot of experimentation and self-publishing. Today if you look at the small press scene it tends to emulate major publishers. So the interesting stuff is happening in zines and other formats. I think a lot of people who used to hope that their work would get published in book form don't feel that the opportunity really exists anymore." As always the fun stuff is happening in the zines. The market exists and is dynamic—you just have to know where to look.
Take a look at my press (which I run with my buddy, Jesse). Download some of our online chapbooks, watch some vids, etc — tell me what you thing! We are here:
Ahadada Books.
Look forward to hearing from you! Oh, gotta crash—it's getting late!
