I love the idea of instantaneous and ubiquitous publishing and the blog culture that has sprung up from it.

I think that the internet has had a huge impact on small press culture and it has made it easier to find small pressses and make connections with other publishers and writers (take this site for example). Small press-focused websites, email list-serves, personal websites and online ordering from small press distros make finding and ordering small presss and communicating with small press publishers easier and has contributed to an increase in availability and access to small presss.

So I don't think that there will be a drop in print publishing anytime soon. A big part of the thrill in making small pressses is the vision of authors and editors manifested in the _object_: a tangible, beautiful, book.

If you look at the history of the small press, publishers have continued to write and publish their concerns vision and critiques in the face of adversity, or mainstream disinterest.

In short, I believe they can live alongside! But that's just one man's opinion. And -- over time -- I believe that there will be a paradigm shift, but always room for printed matter.
