Small Press discussion 2 Years, 8 Months ago Karma: 1
Having never joined a discussion group and wanting to open pick up some ideas regarding the small press market, I started by googling "small press" and then "small press forums". I went down the list and clicked on every website and registered on every one that represented themselves to have small press information. The list totaled around twenty. That journey began over a week ago and the results are revealing. Ten or twelve turned out to be chit-chat forums under the heading of the small press but I could find no active discussion of the small presses. Another two or three are basically inactive or unaccessible because of broken _link_s or errors.

In the end I want to point out that this one is the one that holds the most promise. But there doesn't seem to be much discussion!

Glad you joined! Welcome aboard!

How does one go about utilizing the collective efforts of countless individuals spread around the world with a minimal amount of energy? That's the questions we're trying to answer here!

As the site's founders, its our job to attract users. This is the easy part. Making sure the right people stick around is harder. In a healthy community, that's not our job, however.

As a group, active users will draw others faster than any kind of promotion. An active user group exudes a sense of community. This attracts people who enjoy the company of like-minded individuals and seek the rewards of participating in the group.

So, help us spread the word about the site and help by contributing time, knowledge and so on! If you'd like any ideas, please message me and we can talk about it further!

Thanks for the welcome! I'm new to this stuff, so I'm interested to see how it will all turn out.

Apart from that can anyone instruct me as to how I might go about enclosing or highlighting a phrase as was done within your reply above?

To highlight what someone has said previously just use the following format except that you must use square brackets (i.e. "[" and "]") instead of brace brackets (i.e. "{" and "}"):

{quote="mgear"}This is quoted text{/quote}

...where "mgear" is the name of the member that you are quoting. This should result in:

This is quoted text

If you don't wish to identify the speaker just drop everything after "quote" within the first pair of square brackets. Thus:

{quote}This is quoted text{/quote}

...will be rendered as:

This is quoted text

Hope that sorts you out!
