Amanda Hiebert toured with the Toronto Poetry Slam Team, which made the finals at the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word for the last three years. In 2004 she was featured on CBC's Word Beat. She has also starred as an actor in film and television projects. She is part of the poetry troupe Last Call Poets.

Sonnet L'Abbé won the 1999 Malahat Review Long Poem Prize and the 2000 Bronwen Wallace Award for Most Promising Writer under age 35. Her work appeared in Red Silk: An Anthology of South Asian Canadian Women Poets (Mansfield Press). She will be celebrating her second poetry book, Killarnoe (McClelland & Stewart).
