Happy October! Since we're nearing Thanksgiving, we'd like to send a big thank-you to all the people who dropped by the Coach House tables at The Word On The Street and the Queen West Art Crawl in Toronto this past month. It was great to see you, and if you liked what you saw at Coach House then, we hope you'll join us for one or more of our many author events this October.
Coast-to-coast, Coach House authors will be rocking across North America this month – we have events scheduled in New York City, L.A., Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto and many points in-between. It's like a Coach House North American tour! October also marks the release of three of our new fall books – Touch To Affliction by Nathalie Stephens, King by Tanya Chapman and The River of Dead Trees by Andrée A. Michaud. Look for them soon at your local bookstore or pre-order them online at the Coach House Books website.
Coach House Takes Manhattan
October 9th through 11th, Coach House Books is hitting the Big Apple to celebrate its 40th year of publishing, and we're bringing four of our acclaimed poets along for the ride. Over three nights, in three separate events, Coach House will bring a taste of great Canadian poetry (delicious) to New York City.

On Monday, October 9th, Jon Paul Fiorentino, author of Hello Serotonin and The Theory of the Loser Class, reads at New York City's Poetry Project at St.Mark's Church (131 E. 10th Street). He is joined by Paul Foster Johnson, author of Refrains/Unworkings.
The October edition of the belladonna* Reading Series (October 10th) features Coach House's Margaret Christakos (Sooner, Excessive Love Prostheses) and angela rawlings (Wide slumber for lepidopterists). Dixon Place (258 Bowery, 2nd Floor) is where you'll find the evening's festivities.
Then on October 11 – the main event! Join Coach House Books in celebrating their fortieth anniversary (one year late – we were busy) at New York City’s Poets House (72 Spring Street, 2nd Floor). Coach House authors Sina Queyras (Lemon Hound), Margaret Christakos (Sooner), angela rawlings (Wide slumber for lepidopterists) and Jon Paul Fiorentino (The Theory of the Loser Class) present a night of witty and astonishing poetic performances hosted by Coach House senior editor Alana Wilcox.

If you've never been to a Coach House seasonal launch before, you'll want to go to see how fun and friendly a book launch can be.
Two days earlier, we'll be celebrating the fall launch in Montreal with our friends at Snare Books. On Sunday, October 22, Coach House Books and Snare Books will launch their fall titles together at The Green Room (5386 St. Laurent). 'Part aesthetic manifesto, part play script, and all provocation, Social Acupuncture demands and rewards your critical attention. In his latest book, Darren O'Donnell takes aim at the timidity and irrelevance of theatre (endless restagings of Shakespeare are dealt a particularly harsh blow) and the naïveté of "fun" and "feel good" artistic gestures toward utopia.' – This Magazine
