Jessica Smith's Organic Furniture Cellar takes on big issues, such as how to write about the place where you live with all its distractions, beauties, and limitations intact. And she writes out of these questions a beautifully fragmented series of page aware poems. A stunning and necessary first book...

Ordered one tonight from Outside Voices. Looking forward to checking it out. We'll be sure to add it to Avaliable Materials here and get it a review on site.

See looktouchblog

I'm not too familiar with your work, Jessica, outside of what I learned from Kevin Thurston (all good) smilies/smiley.gif

I found the following from Derek Beaulieu encouraging (a poet who's work I admire) in a preview of your book:

Jessica Smith?s first collection of poetry, Organic Furniture Cellar (Outside Voices, 96 pp.), contains not only exception poetry, but also a cogent and well argued preface entitled ?The Plasticity of Poetry (A Poetics)? which clearly defines her use of the fragment, multiple languages and concrete poetry.

By the way, Help OV get the book out ASAP. Do a good thing and order one today!

Let me know, smallpressexchangers, if any of you would like to review the book. A copy for your troubles. Once, of course, I have a solid read.
